Gregor
Kregar works with a kaleidoscopic array of materials and media, often employing
glass, stainless steel and plastic as well as familiar found objects, such as
bottles and recycled cardboard, to create work. He is well known for his
sculpture - usually large scale, site-specific work - which invites the
audience to question their role as viewers.
Gregor Kregar is based in Auckland, New Zealand and Berlin, Germany. He has exhibited internationally in solo and group exhibitions and has engaged in many public commissions since the early 1990s. Selected solo exhibitions include Cultural Nature (Gow Langsford Galleryn Auckland, NZ 2010) and Dwelling for Nordung (a public art project in city centre, Ljubljana, Slovenia 2010). In 2010, he participated in the Abu Dhabi International Sculpture Symposium (ADISS) with his work, Twisting the Void 2. In the same year, he was a finalist in the McClelland Sculpture Survey, Langwarrin, Australia. A new work by Gregor Kregar was included in the 12th Cairo Biennale in January 2011.
