Marion Borgelt is an acclaimed Australian artist whose
practice incorporates painting, installation, sculpture and mixed media. Her
artworks draw from an ancient repository of symbolism, their simplistic design
belying a pronounced feeling of movement and effulgence. Beneath their elegant
and controlled design, they convey complex ideas about nature and culture,
resonating with a rich current of dualistic tension. One cannot help but feel
overwhelmed by a sense of contemplation and gravitas when taking in Borgelt’s
timeless meditations.
Marion Borgelt’s recent solo exhibitions include Heartbeat (Dominik Mersch Gallery, Sydney, 2011) and Marion Borgelt: Mind & Matter, A 15 Year Survey (Australian National University Drill Hall Gallery, Canberra, 2010). Borgelt is the recipient of a number of significant art awards and was the first Australian artist to be awarded the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Fellowship. She is regularly commissioned for her large-scale site-specific pieces, such as Candescent Moon (2010) at 101 Collins Street, Melbourne and Primordial Alphabet and Rhythm (1998 – 1999) at News Limited, Sydney. Her work is held in many public, private and corporate collections across the United States, France, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, North Africa, China and Abu Dhabi. www.marionborgelt.com For a complete list of works by Marion Borgelt please contact the gallery HERE
