Ash Keating
Painting the West Park Proposition
25 July to 10 August 2013

Painting the West Park Proposition is a series of photographs and a singe-channel video work documenting an endurance painting intervention undertaken by Ash Keating on September 1st 2012. Over the course of eight hours, Keating hurled buckets of paint and sprayed paint-filled fire extinguishers at a two-story industrial building in Truganina, Victoria, situated on the edge of the urban and rural boundary. Using a palette that mimicked the colours of the local environment, Keating created a painting that reflected the landscape the building was taking over, making it appear to melt away into its surroundings from a distance.
