Scott Miles’ oil paintings depict familiar environments with subtle notions of the subconscious picking at the frays. Notions of the uncanny lurk in otherwise ordinary settings, which lead to the viewer to question perception and memory, as if they were minor details misremembered or misinterpreted. His works propose discreet challenges to the viewer’s powers of observation, inviting further engagement and a sense of enquiry.
Scott Miles lives and works in Melbourne. In 2009, he exhibited his work Reasonable Doubt, at Ryan Renshaw Gallery, Brisbane and at TCB, Melbourne. His artwork was included in the Fletcher Jones Art Prize, Geelong Gallery, Geelong in 2010. He has also shown recently at 24 HRART, Northern Territory Centre for Contemporary Art.
